Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern and a Counselor?
Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) Interns are individuals who have graduated with a Masters Degree in mental health counseling from an accredited university.
They are in the process of fulfilling the 3,000 clinical hours of psychotherapy required for California MFT licensure.
Counselors have completed coursework at the Masters level and are completing the university’s clinical psychotherapy hours to obtain a degree. Both interns and counselors meet ongoing with a licensed MFT supervisor.

Do you take insurance?
   We do not.
However, our fees average about half the rates for a licensed psychotherapist in Sacramento.  And we do accept personal checks and cash.
Fees at Kismet range between $30 and $80 per session based on income.
We can also provide a receipt for possible reimbursement of personal health spending accounts.

Is Counseling for you?
Please ask yourself these questions:

*Do you look forward to the future and plan ahead for it?
*Do you find joy in everyday life?
*Are you able to trust and love other people?
*Do you feel reasonably energetic throughout the day?
*Can you accept and laugh about your mistakes and weaknesses?
*Are you realistic about your abilities and goals?
*Are you able to face challenges and responsibilities?
*Do you handle minor inconveniences with ease?

*Answering "NO" to any of these questions from the national mental health association indicates you may have a problem that psychotherapy could help.
